ATLANTA (June 5, 2013) – In preparation for the concert event of the year, the Georgia Dome has officially kicked off the “No Shoes Nation” summer in Atlanta. Kenny Chesney is returning to the Georgia Dome for the second consecutive year, this summer he is bringing his “No Shoes Nation” tour to Zac Brown’s Southern Ground as the two multi-platinum artists team up for the can’t miss concert of 2013.
Foundry Street to permanently close; Baker Street extended into gulch
ATLANTA (May 9, 2012) – As construction progresses on the College Football Hall of Fame, residents of Atlanta will notice roadway changes near the building site. Foundry Street, intersecting the construction site, will close permanently on Monday, May 13 as build-out of the Hall continues. Baker Street, which lines the north end of the property, has been widened and extended around to the west of the site (adjacent to the railroad tracks). It now extends into the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) gulch and will provide access to the Omni Hotel and GWCC loading docks, as well as parking for the GWCC and Phillips Arena.
Final Four Semifinal Games Breaks Georgia Dome Basketball Attendance Record
ATLANTA (April 7, 2013) Fans that attended last night’s Final Four semifinal action inside the Georgia Dome set a new attendance record for basketball, with 75,350 fans filling the Dome. The previous record for a basketball game was 62,046 set on March 27, 1998 as the Atlanta Hawks hosted the Chicago Bulls in one of Michael Jordan’s final games.
2013 GOLD CUP GROUPS AND SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED, Georgia Dome Selected to Host Quarterfinal Round
CHICAGO (Wednesday, March 13, 2013) The Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup groups and schedule, as well as awarded the 2013 Gold Cup final to the City of Chicago and Soldier Field, to be played on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 4pm EST. As previously announced, the Rose Bowl will host the opening doubleheader of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday, July 7, which will feature reigning Gold Cup champion, Mexico taking on Panama as part of that doubleheader.

GWCCA RECEIVES OPEN-AIR STADIUM FEASIBILITY STUDY
ATLANTA (February 22, 2011) - The Georgia World Congress Center Authority received the results of a third commissioned study performed by Populous Architects regarding the feasibility of building an open-air stadium on the GWCCA campus and sustainability of the Georgia Dome for the next 20 years (links to all studies below).
