CAMPUS FULL OF ACTIVITY THIS SATURDAY
(ATLANTA
– Sept. 22, 2005) This Saturday, the Georgia World
Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic
Park will host a variety of events that are sure to provide
fun and entertainment for visitors and Atlantans alike.
From the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic at the
Dome to For Sisters Only at the convention center to the
final Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day at Centennial Olympic
Park, there is a lot to see and do in downtown Atlanta this
Saturday.
The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic is the Super
Bowl of Black college football. The event puts Florida A
& M Rattlers and Tennessee State Tigers on the Dome
field in a much anticipated game on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Gates open at 1:30 p.m. and kick off is at 3 p.m. A variety
of events associated with the Atlanta Football Classic will
take place on campus on Saturday. From the Georgia Power
Parade of Excellence to the State Farm Career Fair, this
event is expected to draw large crowds downtown. The parade
will start on Peachtree Street at Baker Street at 9:30 a.m.
and the career fair will be at the GWCC from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m. Additionally, there will be lots of fun and entertainment
at The Verizon Wireless In-Zone Corporate Corner in the
Orange Lot across from the Dome. R&B recording artist
Marques Houston will be performing there at 12:30 p.m. Tickets
to the game are still available through TicketMaster or
the Dome Ticket Office by calling 404.223.8427.
At the Georgia World Congress Center, thousands are expected
to enjoy For Sisters Only, sponsored by V-103. The event
features over 300 exhibitors specializing in everything
from fashions to automobiles, and chart-topping entertainment,
including Ce Ce Winans, Toni Braxton and Bobby Valentino.
The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday and includes
all around family fun. Tickets are available at the door
for $15.
For additional family fun, children of all ages are expected
at the Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day at Centennial Olympic
Park. Families will enjoy learning about "Flights and
Kites." Arts and crafts, performances and a chance
to learn about cultures from around the world are provided
free to all who head to the park on Saturday.
Additionally, the Trashers take to the ice at 7 p.m. at
Philips Arena for the pre-season game against Carolina.
Heavy traffic is expected in and around downtown this weekend
due to the number of events ongoing. Attendees are encouraged
to take MARTA to arrive safely and quickly to their destination.
The Georgia World Congress Center and the Georgia Dome can
be accessed by the GWCC/DOME/ Philips/CNN station or the
Vine City Station. For access to Centennial Olympic Park,
use the GWCC/DOME/Philips/CNN station or the Peachtree Center
station.
