BANDS OF AMERICA MERGES WITH THE MUSIC FOR ALL FOUNDATION
The Georgia Dome is proud to host the Bands of America Super Regional, which packs two solid days of stellar marching band routines, the last weekend in October. This competition features 60 of the best high school bands from across the nation bringing out all the stops in order to make it to the Grand National Championship at the RCA Dome in Indiana.
The Bands of America Regional and Grand National Championships are recognized as the epitome of marching band events in the nation. The goal is to provide a place where participating bands can receive world-class evaluation and input about their program, while showcasing America's finest high school marching bands in an exciting, positive competitive atmosphere.
Bands of America and the Music for All Foundation recently announced the merger of the two groups to create Music for All, Inc., one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations in support of active music making. The Music for All Foundation (MFA), one of the nation’s leading music and arts education research, public policy and advocacy organization, was created to address the growing concern that public policies have created barriers for many schools and communities to provide music and arts programs as a part of a basic education for all children. Together they join forces to create, provide, and expand upon positively life-changing experiences through music at all levels, regardless of experience.
“The mission and vision of both Bands of America and the Music for All Foundation were very much in sync, and the programs of both organizations will only serve to complement each other,” states Scott McCormick, President and CEO of Music for All, Inc. “Music for All’s ground-breaking advocacy efforts fit naturally with BOA’s position as the leading provider of musical events and educational activities.”
The Georgia Dome has had a relationship with Bands of America since 1993 and is excited to continue that as this new partnership matures. Team Dome is hopeful that the Music for All programming at the national level, along with awareness campaigns, research and advocacy at the local level will positively affect those in the metro-Atlanta community.
“It’s important that we as a venue and a city host events that foster a positive message and provide opportunities for young people to excel”, says general manager of the Georgia Dome, Carl Adkins.
