WANT TO BE A PART OF THE 2007 NCAA® MEN'S FINAL FOUR®? VOLUNTEER!
Atlanta Local Organizing Committee Needs More Than 2,000 Volunteers to Help

ATLANTA - November 27, 2006 - For the third time in the past 30 years, the city of Atlanta will host the NCAA Men's Final Four, March 31 to April 2 at the Georgia Dome. The true key to the event's success will lie with a special group of individuals - the volunteers. Today, the Atlanta Local Organizing Committee (ALOC) is announcing the need for more than 2,000 volunteers to help with everything from welcome guest attendants to special event support to working at Hoop City®, the NCAA's interactive fan festival, during the Final Four festivities.

"Atlantans are some of the most generous when it comes to donating volunteer time," said Julia Emmons, volunteer chair for ALOC and retiring executive director of the Atlanta Track Club. "From the Summer Olympics to the Peachtree Road Race to hundreds of other events that take place each year - Atlanta volunteers are always happy to lend a hand and showcase the true Southern charm and hospitality that makes our city great. I look forward to working with the Final Four event volunteers to make it their best experience yet," she added.

Volunteers will need to commit to three, four hour shifts beginning Thursday, March 28. Each volunteer will also need to attend a training session in March prior to the Final Four. Registration begins on November 27 through March 1. For the first time in Atlanta's Final Four hosting history, volunteers will be able to register online at www.atlanta.net/finalfour/volunteers. Printed applications can be requested at 404-527-6967. Selection of volunteer opportunities is first-come, first-served.
