The Georgia Dome offers fans a unique and spectacular venue. The Georgia Dome is the largest cable-supported domed stadium in the world. It has a seating capacity large enough to host political conventions, major concerts and even the Super Bowl!

Although the Georgia Dome can seat 71,250 in permanent seating, it still has an intimate feel due to extraordinary architectural planning. The stadium is oval, with seats set closely to the field. The Teflon/fiberglass roof gives a sense of closure, yet still allows in sunlight for natural illumination. In addition, the sidelines are the best in the NFL, which translates into audience accessibility for any event.

Football Events
The Georgia Dome is the home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, but its capabilities are far greater than that of just a football stadium. In fact, Falcons games and other football events such as the Chick-fil-A Bowl, Atlanta Football Classic and the SEC Football Championship occupy the stadium fewer than 20 days a year. This leaves at least 345 days open for a whole other world of non-sports events.

Non-Sporting Events
These include everything from major trade shows to concerts by such entertainers as the Rolling Stones and Backstreet Boys to religious events by such ministers as Billy Graham and T.D. Jakes.

Other Sporting Events
The Dome hosts many other sporting events too. For example, it was the home venue for portions of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons. The Dome has also hosted Bull Riding, Supercross, professional wrestling, the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships, NCAA basketball, and Georgia High School football and basketball tournaments. The most notable sports events held to date at the Dome were the three Olympic events (basketball, gymnastics and the finals of team handball) during the 1996 Centennial games, two Super Bowls (1994 and 2000), and three NCAA Final Four basketball tournaments.

Looking ahead, the Georgia Dome will host the:

  • SEC Basketball Tournament (2007, 2008, 2011)

  • ACC Basketball Tournament (2009)

  • SEC Football Championship (annually)

  • Chick-fil-A Bowl (annually)

  • Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic

Location
The Georgia Dome claims a prime location in the heart of downtown Atlanta within walking distance of the CNN Center, Philips Arena and numerous first-class hotels and restaurants. Two MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) rail stations service the Dome.

Seating
The Georgia Dome provides arena and stadium configuration seating from 20,000 to 80,000. The eight Super Suites, 164 Executive Suites, and the 4,600 Club Seats are included in the 71,250 total seating capacity. The 102,000 square-foot sealed concrete floor accommodates a variety of events including trade shows, concerts and a wide range of sporting events, such as basketball, boxing, wrestling, motor sports and more.

Staff
Our staffs assist with the full range of services and facilities required to host a world-class event. Basics include 24-hour building security patrols, hospitality and pressrooms, janitorial services, event setup, fully equipped first-aid facilities and parking services.

Construction and Financing
Construction of the Georgia Dome was financed through tax-exempt industrial revenue bonds issued by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Debt service is paid with dedicated revenue without taxpayer risk, since the bonds are guaranteed by a private letter of credit. Dedicated revenue is also generated from 2.75 cents per dollar in hotel/motel tax revenues, plus project revenues such as executive suite and club seat lease income, advertising, and event revenue from concessions, parking and rent.
